Worship That Pleases God - by James W. Bartley, Jr. (PhD)

ISBN 978-075-688-4 (Paperback: US $17.99, UK £13.99)
Category: Non-fiction

James W. Bartley Jr. has gone
beyond the common status quo to explore a subject that most
authors do not have sufficient experiential credentials to delve
into. He practically reflects on his more than 60 years experience
of walking with God to bring many into an awe-striking deeper
communion with God. His book, Worship that pleases God gives
an accurate insight into the inexhaustible subject of Worship – as
an invaluable asset in the Man-God relationship. Being a retired
Professor of theology, Dr. Bartley has successfully made a holistic
and unassailable exposition of worship – as a theme that finds its
root in the book of Genesis and continues to Revelation in the
Bible, while his academic perception lends credence to his work.
Worship that pleases God is not just a book that enriches the
knowledge of inquisitive readers; Dr. Bartley has carefully
sequenced it in such a manner that even the least motivated reader
will simply find the wave of his discovered supernatural worship
pattern so irresistible.

by Temitope O.
Oyetomi Archbishop Akinola, Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican
Communion), commends this book as a "valuable material for anyone
tired of dodging the questions". Indeed, it is one book that has
"raised a fathom of questions", as yet another Bishop - a PhD-holder
- observes in the foreword. However, the tact with which the author
resolves many of these questions is scholarly and engaging. The
author writes with confidence and his arguments are intelligent and
highly persuasive: facts and their interpretations are presented in
a style that is approachable, digestible and amenable to reading by
a wide audience.
Ordinarily, one might think of it as a book for
those who are in doubt of God's existence. Of course, it is. But it
will be more applicable to those who are sure that God exists and
who believe they are worshiping the true and living God. "Who really
is the true and living God" and "how best can one relate with God"
are the ultimate quests of the book. Drawing answers from science,
religion and philosophy, the author has contrived a rare blend "that
will plausibly challenge every mind". No wonder a Baptist minister
recommends it "to all people no matter their religious persuasions".
It is certainly an intellectual masterpiece.
Sabbath
concerns the invisible God, and fulfilled by the observance of a
special part of invisible time. Only faith can fulfil
it in its proper designated form - faith in God, faith in the Word,
faith in the Redeemer who completed his work of re-creation also on
the sixth day and rested on the seventh for it is a miniature of
eternity, which has been brought into a weekly cycle of time.
Graeme Loftus has succinctly unleashed a spirit-filled and
mind-stimulating perspective on the long embattled subject of
Sabbath keeping. As we move ahead to the prophesied end of times, it
is imperative that we walk with an unflinching consciousness that
there is a rest that remains for God’s people. Hence, Sabbath and
the Trinity presents a biblically unassailable and historically
faultless standpoint, which if critically juxtaposed with the
present and the perceived future of mankind, gives a clear picture
of the intents and the extents of God’s promised kingdom...a
place of absolute rest.
